Mango Velvet, otherwise known as “C x M”, is a limited edition CBD hemp flower strain released by The Goods, exclusively for our customers. It’s the first time we’ve carried such a small batch flower at our store! It is a cross between two CBD dominant hemp strains, Cannatonic and Mango. Mango is an in-house CBD strain developed by The Goods and Cannatonic is a well known CBD strain known for it’s high potency and fruity terpene profile. Cannatonic is interestingly the strain our Fruit Cake genetics are derived from, and if you’ve had the chance to try it you’ll understand why such a strain combination can be mouthwatering.
The Flowers structure is typical of Sativa bud structure, long and thin compared to indica varieties. Immediately, it is apparent that Mango Velvet is totally covered in sticky dense trichomes. We’ve seen a lot of CBD hemp flower strains, but nothing as high quality as this small batch released by The Goods.
The Smell of this strain is something unlike any other CBD hemp flower strain we’ve ever seen. It smells exactly like what one might expect from high grade Cali - something that is hard to achieve with CBD. The reason it is rare to find CBD flowers that smell like THC flowers is because there is a correlative relationship between terpenes and THC. Terpenes are the compounds that give cannabis its flavor, smell and even its effects. Therefore, beyond just the nice flavors, it’s very important to have a good amount of terpenes in your CBD flower.
Mango Velvet was grown using state of the art indoor grow equipment, under controlled conditions, natural nutrients and pest preventatives, and constant surveillance. Often cannabis producers are looking to increase their profits by reducing the process (and cost) of growing cannabis. The Goods have done the opposite given this is a small boutique batch. Every additional step that could ensure quality was employed. Even specialist techniques such as filtering the air for pest particles and mold were practiced on site until harvest was due.
Smell & Flavour Of Mango Velvet CBD Hemp Flower
The smell of this CBD hemp flower strain is breathtaking - as we mentioned above it has the highest terpene content we’ve seen in a hemp flower. It immediately reeks of Mangos, topical citrus fruits and sweet cream. It has the potential to stink up a room, so open your packet carefully!
Our findings are that this strain is most dominant in the terpene, Myrcene. Myrcene is the terpene most commonly found in THC cannabis strains, perhaps that is why Mango Velvet smells and tastes so similar to high grade THC. Myrcene is also the terpene commonly found in Mangos!
Interestingly, the flavor brought about by Myrcene isn’t just pleasant - it is well known for increasing the effect of THC! The reason for this is due to a phenomenon called The Entourage Effect, in which a synergistic effect is observed between terpenes and cannabinoids. It explains a scenario in which the potency of cannabis is increased when cannabinoids and terpenes are abundant.
Appearance Of Mango Velvet CBD Hemp Flowers
Mango Velvet has similar bud structure to old school sativa genetics. The buds grow long and slim, yet are very dense when squeezed and have the perfect surface area for encouraging trichome development. The bud is totally coated in perfectly mature trichomes, making it clear to any observer that it is potent. We’ve seen countless CBD vendors selling CBD strains that are apparently 20% CBD, yet we know the truth is that 20% is biologically unachievable, and their flowers are often empty of trichomes. Mango Velvet will amaze you with the sheer density of it’s trichomes, something that we rarely see in THC strains.
Each flower has been hand trimmed by The Goods to ensure each customer gets high cannabinoid concentration buds. Each bud passes through several hands and eyes to check for blemishes and ways to improve the trim. This guarantees that every nug has been treated with the love and care that is needed to harvest cup winners like Mango Velvet.
Effects Of Fruit Cake CBD Hemp Flower
We’ve found the effects of Velvet Mango are incredibly potent. There are two ways people tend to consume; just CBD on its own, or CBD accompanied by THC. Depending on how you consume, the effects will vary.
On its own, Mango Velvet is an amazing creative and uplifting strain. We find that the fruity profile encourages a relaxation that doesn’t act as a sedative, more as a chill out effect. If consuming this flower on it’s own, we recommend using it as a daytime profile, unless you’re looking to foster some of that creativity later in the day.
When the Mango Velvet is combined with THC, we’ve found the effects change significantly. Rather than encouraging more alert effects, we find the combination with THC induces heavy sedentary effects. This is most likely a relationship between the high CBD, THC and terpenes contents of such consumption. If consuming Velvet Mango with THC we certainly recommend starting that later in the day to avoid unwanted drowsiness.
Mango Velvet Summary
Without a doubt this limited release CBD hemp flower is the best we’ve ever seen in the UK. It’s a fine example of why it is worth spending a bit more to increase the quality of cannabis. It’s easy to get in the mindset that it’s just CBD (or THC), and as long as it “does the job” then it’s good. But we find that the effects of Mango Velvet exceed everyone's expectation and have people saying things like “this makes me feel amazing”.
We’ve been observing as The Goods ramp up their boutique micro grow operation, so that there will constantly be small drops of ultra premium CBD hemp flowers. We hope to get our hands on each batch upon availability and will keep all our customers in the know when they become available.
