For many, it is difficult to choose the right CBD product. The industry is poorly regulated and some producers are rushing in, cutting costs and flooding the market with low quality, unsafe, products. Besides knowing the source of your CBD, lab data requirements should also be met. We’ve done the hard part for you and made sure that all our products meet these high quality standards. Here are 3 main things to look out for in lab tests:
1. Cannabinoid Count.
It's important to see proof of 3rd party lab testing - this guarantees that the strength of CBD you see on the label is indeed its true strength. This opens up transparency and means that a producer isn’t being biased. It’s important to get your CBD from a source that delivers consistent quality - many of our customers are used to consuming a certain milligram strength every day, an unreliable source would pose many problems for them.
2. Safety Test.
Next, check if your CBD has lab data to show that it has passed the following tests:
Microbiological, aerobic count, coliforms, enterobacteriaceae, E coli count, yeast and mold, pseudomonas, salmonella, pesticides/carbamates, heavy metals, organophosphates.
Bacteria can contaminate plants via the fertilizers used by producers. Cheap fertilizers made from the likes of bat guano and cow manure are perfect conditions for the spread of salmonella and E. Coli, both potentially deadly bacterias. Because these fertilizers cost less, they can be priced lower - make sure to check for this data as it’s not worth taking the risk. Rest assured that the products we stock have been lab tested to ensure that they are risk-free.
3. Terpene Profile.
Previously, we highlighted the importance of Terpenes. They’re the smell and taste component of the plant and when accompanied by cannabinoids bring on the “entourage effect”. Some extraction methods can be so inefficient that they destroy most of the terpenes present in the plant. By looking at the lab data on terpene profiles you can easily determine if there are terpenes present and which terpenes dominate the product. Products that are more likely to bring on relaxation will be high in Myrcene, whereas an energizing effect would be noticed if Limonene was more present. Because our products are derived via supercritical CO2 extraction, they are full of terpenes. If you want to further enhance your CBD products, you should have a look at our cannabis derived terpenes, they’re the first of their kind in the UK!
