7 Ways to Use Hemp Cannabis Terpenes

7 Ways to Use Hemp Cannabis Terpenes

Ever felt refreshed after smelling lemons, or sleepy after having a lavender tea? This mood changing effect is due to the terpenes found in those foods. It is well observed that different strains of cannabis have different effects; sativa tends to be awakening, indica is known to be more calming. These effects can be discovered by using their terpenes.

In layman's terms, terpenes are the smell and taste component of every strain of cannabis. They can be distilled from the plant and converted into a liquid form. This process requires a huge amount of plant matter to extract just a few milliliters of terpene. They are extremely concentrated and would taste incredibly overpowering if consumed on their own. Therefore Terpenes must be diluted.

We have sourced the first hemp cannabis derived terpenes from Denver, Colorado, to supply the UK. They are OG Bubblegum and Jack Herer.

Here are 7 ways you can easily use terpenes:

  1. Cooking

Terpenes make a great ingredient when cooking with cannabis. You can increase the potency of your creations by enhancing the entourage effect and completing the synergistic relationship between terpenes and cannabinoids. Our Jack Herer terpenes are very zesty and would be delicious if added to a lemon cake. The OG Bubblegum terpenes would be irresistible if infused into some candy edibles.

  1. Diffuser

Just like with essential oils, you can add terpenes into your diffuser and simply breath them in. Time this before you go to bed to lower activity, or before working to increase stimulation.

  1. Dilute them into drinking water

Terpenes can be sipped throughout the day when diluted with water. We recommend mixing 1-2 drops into 500ml of water. This should be consumed slowly throughout the day. There is no need to “down” the whole bottle in one go to benefit from it.

  1. Vaping

Terpenes can be mixed into your e-liquid. We recommend adding 1 drop of terpenes to every 1ml of vape liquid. For best results, allow your vape to steep for 48 hours. This will allow the flavour to be consistent. If you were to vape straight away it is unlikely you would notice the effects of the terpene for a few days.

  1. Rubbing onto temples

They can also be rubbed directly onto the temples, just like an essential oil. We might suggest using the OG Bubblegum terpenes in this way if you find your thoughts racing and want to have a moment of clarity. Just take 1 drop, and rub it against your finger and apply onto the temples.

  1. Mixing with concentrates

Terpenes can be dripped onto your shatter, wax, crystals or hash. This is a great way to increase the quality and effects of your products. We recommend adding extremely small amounts to your concentrates, even a drop can be too much so using a less is more approach is advisable.

  1. Curing your flowers.

It is well noted that there is an entourage effect that involves the synergy of terpenes and cannabinoids. Even if your flowers have a great range of cannabinoids, they could be heavily lacking in terpenes. These can be added using our hemp derived terpenes, and interestingly you could even orchestrate the effects your flowers have; shifting them more towards an indica or sativa. Either rub them straight onto the flowers or grind them up and toss them in the terpenes.
